Via Bill Simmons, here’s the last lap of the 10,000 meters run at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics:
American Billy Mills made up about 15 meters in the last 50, sprinting to the finish as though it were the first lap, not the last. One of the greatest finishes in the history of sport.
