Last night I finished the second story I have due this week, and man, EVERY story should be this easy! I received the guidelines two weeks ago, spent a few days hammering together a plot, then, after I’d finished the other story, banged this one out in a week.
I seem to have a much easier time with stories written in the first person. Once I “get in character”, as it were, words just spill out, almost as fast as I can type. Not to say this is a great story; in fact there’s a good chance it’s total crap. But it kept me interested all the way through, I never got bored and just wished it was done. Wishing doesn’t seem to work anyway.
New Tunes: Graham Gets The Call. So, I was on iTunes the other day, looking for a song called “And The Walls Came Down”, by a group (unknown to me) named The Call. I noticed that among the other top downloads for this group was a song called “I Still Believe”, which is another great song and I immediately bought it. Both are off their album Reconciled, along with “Everywhere I Go”, another terrific tune. This album came out in 1986, my senior year in high school, which only reinforces my gut feeling that the best music out there is music I’m not hearing. Other new tunes: Robert Palmer, “Bad Case Of Lovin’ You”, Green Day, “Welcome to Paradise”, and Greg Kihn, “The Breakup Song”. They don’t write ‘em like that anymore.

And the Walls Came down is a great song. I remeber being really drunk whe I firt heard it. And really drunk for the next few years too actually….
Check out some Icicle Works from around the same time.
