A Small Success

06.06.02 | Comment?

I just found out that a short-short story of mine (less than 500 words) has been accepted for an anthology of short-shorts called Bullet Points, to be put out by the Short Mystery Fiction Society. It’s going to be an actual, hold-it-in-your-hands book, not electronically published like the other stuff I’ve been doing lately. This is my 4th acceptance in the past year. I have another story that’s good enough to be published somewhere, but I’ve been lazy about keeping it in the mail, and another story I’m working on which has pretty much ground to a halt.

Probably because it looks as though I’m going to be moving. Don’t tell anyone, but my boss let me know that I’m probably going to be laid off this month. A bummer, but not so bad because my wife and I had already decided that we would probably be moving to Fort Worth. We had several reasone:

* In Texas, they have good public schools. In Louisiana, they do not, and private school for 2 kids is $800 per month.

* My wife wants to be able to go to graduate school or law school. There’s a whole passel of grad schools in D/FW and 2 law schools.

* We need to sell our house. The ever-present boulder on the shoulder has gotten to be too much of a burden. If I can get a higher paying job and a less expensive house I would get rid of 90% of my stress.

So, if you or someone you know is looking for a highly qualified network administrator/database programmer/web developer in the Fort Worth area, please have them drop me a line. That address again: boog@myboogpages.com. Thanks in advance.
