I’ve never been a big Weezer fan, although they’ve had some pretty good songs over the years, especially “Buddy Holly” and “Photograph”. This may be about to change. I heard their new song “Dope Nose” off the Maladroit CD the other day, and it totally rocks. Weezer still has that doo-wap oooo-eeeee-ooooo thing going, but the song has some awfully crunchy chords, chords that haven’t been played since the 80s. It’s great to hear a kick-ass song that’s not so dark and droning. Tool and Korn and such get old after a while.
